Sunday

in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king

“The secret of achievement is not to let what
you’re doing get to you before you get to it”
 … Kobi Yamada.

Think.
Do you have what you want?
Pick a dream. Non-material. Intangibly important
to you. What do you want, and what do you have
to do to get it? I may not be big on things like
fate and destiny, but I think we could put down a
point or two for karma. Everyone can have anything
they want, if they are willing to put in the effort to
get themselves there. For some reason, I get a
head-start on everyone in this tough obstacle
course of life. My path seems to be free of boulders
and snakes, ladders and black cats. All I need to
do is bat a few balloons out of the way I’ve spent
so much time looking out for you I forgot how to
look you in the eye.

Wednesday

I have my private pilot's license.
Got it when I was 15 ... for kicks
'Cause I could. 'Cause my parents said:

Do you want to?

and I thought ... Why not ...

And now I'm nearly 22.
Not sure what I want to do.

People say - oh, go for your commercial license!

I have a question.

You have your first aid.
You're a summer part-time Life Guard.
Are you gonna go study to be a doctor now?

Hot tips guys, thanks.

Sunday

well, best not to judge at all, but

Always when judging
Who people are,
Remember to footnote
The words "So far."

~Robert Brault

Wednesday

to always want is to live, to always need is to exist, to always try is to be and to always give up is to die

There are things I have wanted so long
that I would only consent to have them
if I could keep wanting them.
~Robert Brault

Sunday

you can't fall off the floor

In this, the late afternoon of my life,
I wonder: am I casting a longer shadow
or is my shadow casting a shorter me?
~Robert Brault

Wednesday

In general people experience their present naively, as it were, without being able to form an estimate of its contents; they have first to put themselves at a distance from it - the present, that is to say, must have become the past - before it can yield points of vantage from which to judge the future.
~Sigmund Freud, The Future of an Illusion

Sunday

who is more foolish, them afraid of dark, or light?

How often one sees people looking far and wide for what they are holding in their hands? Why! I am doing it myself at this very moment.
~Augustus William Hare and Julius Charles Hare, Guesses at Truth, by Two Brothers, 1827

Wednesday

everything is life, and life is an illusion

Behold! Human beings live in an underground cave... They only see their own shadows, or the shadows of one another, which the fire throws on the opposite wall of the cave.
Plato
Once, I, Chang Tzu, dreamed that I was a butterfly and was happy as a butterfly. I was conscious that I was quite pleased with myself but I did not know that I was Tzu. Suddenly I awoke and there I was, visible Tzu. I do not know whether it was Tzu dreaming that he was a butterfly or the butterfly dreaming that it was Tzu.

Sunday

ai yam wadai yam

The body is yours - but is not you. The body is a garment that you are wearing, a machine that you are using, a vehicle that you are driving. The body is your possession. Just as a person does not identify himself as being the shirt he is wearing, he should also not identify himself with the body that he is wearing.
